The Origin of Turkish Delight

Turkish Delight, also coined as Lokum, is a decadent sweet treat dating back as early as the 15th century. Made with starch and sugar and combined with different flavours, Turkish Delight is one of the most well-known sweets originating from the Ottoman Empire and is now enjoyed around the world.

This sweet delicacy earned a high status among the Turkish royal family and was often served as a gift, becoming a popular symbol of hospitality and generosity.

Turkish Delight was in fact so exclusive that the recipe was kept a secret for many years until it was leaked in the 19th century. This delicious treat eventually made its way across the world, where new flavours such as chocolate and coconut were incorporated for a modern touch.

Here at Dellisse Gourmet, our Turkish Delight makes the perfect gift for any occasion. Handmade using traditional techniques and high-quality ingredients sourced in the Middle East, our decadent collection is infused with a variety of flavours including pistachio, rose, orange and raspberry.
